"The Great American Trailer Park Musical" opened Off-Broadway at Dodger Stages (now New World Stages) in 2005. With Music and Lyrics by David Nehls and Book by Betsy Kelso, the show began its journey as a series of staged readings and workshops, followed by a sold-out run at The New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2004, which then yielded the 2005 Off Broadway production, produced by Jean Doumanian and Jeffrey Richards.
The original Off Broadway cast featured Marya Grandy (Linoleum), Linda Hart (Betty), Shuler Hensley (Norbert), Kaitlin Hopkins (Jeannie), Leslie Kritzer (Drama Desk Award Nomination for her performance as Pickles), Orfeh (Pippi), and Wayne Wilcox (Duke). Since then, "The Great American Trailer Park Musical" has toured both the U.S. and the U.K. and has even been translated into French for a production in Montreal. The show continues to play regionally -- from Fargo, North Dakota, to New Milford, Connecticut, to Las Vegas to Nashville, audiences everywhere love a Trailer Park!
